William- Hola, gracias por tu comentario! Me encanta Isla Mujeres y Cozumel siempre esta en mi corazon. Vive en Cozumel mis primeros seis meses en Mexico, es triste que no hay mucho trabajo alla. Tal vez cuando sacamos el melate podemos vivir en una isla. Saludos y abrazos amigo!

naci en cozumel, pero Isla Mujeres es un lugar bello, me encanta isla mujeres, es un lugar que amo, me trae muchos recuerdos, que bueno que hayas puesto algo sobre mi isla consentida.

Scott- Great story, I love it! I mentioned to Hubby while we were there that the islanders really do look out for kids, little ones wander around on their own but someone always has an eye out for them.

KfromMichigan- Glad you enjoyed, I always think of you while I take pictures on the beach!

Gaelyn- OH, "cruda" was one of the my first words, lol! "Cerveza, cigaro, cenicero, encededor, baño, y cruda". The important words when here to party, haha!

Beth- Glad I could share with you, hopefully you'll get a big vacation soon!

Heather- Yes, the getting out is the hard part. Well, getting the kids out is the hardest part, but it's not easy for me either.

IslaGringo- It's sad but true, we won't be going over nearly as often with the price hike, we'll take our business to Puerto Morelos. I didn't know the palms were so "young", nor did I know it used to be Playa Cocos, learn something new everyday! I guess we'll just have to buy a boat, haha! You don't think you could swim home? ;-)

Cdn Cat- Glad you enjoyed the photos and happy to provide your fix. Definitely hit Isla the next time you are down!

All I can say is....Beautiful photos! It's been years since visiting Isla. I must make it a point to get back there one day soon. I look forward to my "Mexico Fix" by visiting your wonderful blog on a regular basis!

I suppose those palm are old now. They were planted in 1990 after Gilbert took out every palm on the beach. Did you know that the original name for Playa Norte was Playa Cocos? I remember well the year they finally got big enough to provide some shade.

The price raise has created quite the furor. You should write to or stop in at the tourism board on Isla. Located next to that Frog store. Let them know that you will no longer be able to afford to visit the island nor spend money in restaurants or stores. Money talks. Many local tourists have let the tourism board know that they now will be going to the beaches in Puerto Juarez since travel to the island is no longer affordable. Rumor has it that both ferries are going to have to lower their illegally raised prices or be shut down. Now wouldn't that be an effective response? How we would who live here ever get off the island!

LOL! Con la cruda. You're Spanish is really improving. Glad the sea got rid of your hangover. Never made it the Isle. Next visit for sure. I do remember those aqua aguas.

Playa Norte is a great place. Last time we were there, an old man came by and when the kids weren't looking, he buried a bunch of pesos in the sand. Then he got the kids attention and proceeded to tell them all about the pirates that used to bury their treasure on the island. Next, he guided them to the appropriate digging spot and they found the "treasure". They thought it was very cool. All they while, I'm looking over my shoulder for the second have of the team trying to rip me off, and it never showed up. It was just a really cool old man.
