Snorkeling Puerto Morelos

This is mostly going to be a picture post, I haven't done one in aeons! Sunday we took my parents to the beach in Puerto Morelos and my dad had a hankering to do some snorkeling. We caught a little panga at a good price and had some of the best snorkeling we've had in a long time. The water was super clear, the sun was shining through and the fish were abundant. Max did the whole two hours with us, his first time really keeping up with a group on a reef snorkel, I was thrilled and so was he! There were moments where I heard him screaming into his tube, thought he was panicking, but he was just pointing out some super cool fish he'd spotted. The conditions were perfect for taking pics, so here you go, some fishies, some coral and a really cool Grandpa/Max shot.

And that's it, just a quickie today but sheesh, two blogs in two days, pretty good for this good-for-nothin' blogger these days! The parents leave tomorrow, back to Canada after three weeks here. We'll miss them greatly and were so pleased to be able to share some fun times with them. Thanks mom and dad, come back soon!

I love love LOVE Puerto Morelos - a place I "discovered" thanks to this blog (ok, and swine flu closing our Cozumel hotel on our last trip). Looks like a great day!

Great photographs. My internet connection is so slow that I have to be satisfied with one or two in each post on my blog. I may try to expand that during my brief sojourn north (if 6 months can be considered brief).

When I return, I would like to get over that way. Certainly, snorkeling will be less dangerous to my ankles than ziplining.

Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures and the blog! We will be arriving this coming week...out of Puerto Mureles, Akumel and Xel-Ha what do you think is the best place to snorkel? We are limited in our time....thank you so much! Can't wait for our trip!

Kelly- So glad I could help you find PM and really glad you liked it. It's definitely a fave of ours, when we win the lottery I picture our little beach house there. :)

Steve- Snorkeling would be great therapy for a bunged up ankle, I highly recommend it! I hope your six months NOB goes quickly, Mexico will miss you!

BlueSky- Oh the choices, the choices! I would have to say Akumal if you could only hit one spot. From there you could do a shore snorkel right behind CEA (just to the right of the main town entrance), then hop a couple minutes north to Half Moon Bay (still Akumal, just around the bend from CEA), then the highlight, Yal Ku lagoon. The two beach snorkels are free (just need equipment) and there is a small charge for Yal Ku, well worth it though. Have a great trip!
Awesome pics Kelly! What camera are you using?

Funny to read your blog. We are living a similar life but in reverse in Canada...

You have quelled my fears somewhat of someday having to leave Canada to move to Mexico......

Michele and On Mex Time- It's an old point and shoot digi in a special underwater case, Sony. Unfortunately neither the camera nor the case are available anymore!! Seems a lot of cameras have underwater casings available now, I am drooling over the one for my Canon. :)

S- Oh, the reverse life, don't tell my Hubby! You have no idea how often I hear "Vamos a Canada", haha. Living here is not perfect, but there are always ways to make it more enjoyable. :)
