Hot Sunday in Puerto Morelos

The weather has been hot, hot, hot down here in the tropics, fine inspiration to head to the beach (like I need a reason). It's been a while since we were in Puerto Morelos, so off we went for some fun in the hot sun and the warm ocean. We played, we frolicked, we walked, we swam, we snorkeled a little and there were even a couple of moments of relaxation. Overall a good time was had by all. Here's a few pics of our day....

Puerto Morelos does NOT need the beach reconstruction,
the beach is wide and gorgeous for many kilometers

Sundays are big for families
(I loved this umbrella and their little circle of love)

Snorkel/dive boat
(with a wee pirate attempting to sneak aboard up the rope)

Max practicing his LandSnorkeling

My favourite shot of the day
Nestor the Amazing Beach Doggie!

We're all brown and toasty today and TIRED. Yeah, yeah, we have such a rough life I know. But hey, I work six days a week (er, part time, ahem), one day of rest is not enough! We are really looking forward to my parents' visit in a few weeks, we're off to an all inclusive in Akumal where we can relax and enjoy the family time together. One day in Puerto Morelos is just a practice run, perhaps we'll do another before the folks get down here, we want to be a in good form for vacation!

Hope you had a fantabulous weekend, what fun did you get up to?

Wonderful pictures! I still haven't uploaded mine from our May trip to Mexico, I need to work on that. Akumal should be fantastic too, you'd better get in a lot of beach-ing and eating practice. Oh darn : )
Wow the beach is so so so blanco!

Hola !
As a fellow Canuck from Montreal ,I really enjoyed reading and the pcs of your day on the beach in P M .
We enjoyed the P M environment for 2 months last winter ;in fact , we enjoyed it so much that we are going to spend 3 months next winter in this lovely village by the sea . Perhaps one day we'll meet on the beach .....

What a beautiful beach. I guess Max is feeling better. I remember Sundays as family day on the beach south of Tulum. It's a good idea to practice for vacation.
Gah I wish I WAS THERE!!! Yeah crazy weekend, I rode a river rat. Read the blog. And for others who read this I need followers!

KfromMichigan- I always think of you when posting beach pics, glad you liked!

Kelly- Let us know when you've got pics somewhere, would love to see them! Want to write a trip report as a guest blogger? :)

American Mommy- Having been to Pacific side and Caribbean, the difference in the sand is huge. Over here it's soft, like baby powder and it never gets hot like the "left coast". Heaven!

On Mexican Time- Get out and explore girl! We should have a beach party meet up in PM, would be a blast.

novy ehconrevil- Hola, nice to "meet" you. Lucky you getting to escape Montreal for the winter! Montreal is one of my FAVOURITE cities in the world, but it's horrid in the winter time! Look for me on the beach, we're often out there!

Heather- Water falls are awesome, nice substitute for ocean. :)

Amanda- The doggie was very cool. Give hugs to your bear for me.

Gaelyn- Practice makes perfect, haha. Max is feeling better, thanks, just a couple of days of bad tummy (we all get it around here).

Yo Quiero Cancun- Crazy adventure on your river rats, wow! Glad no one was seriously hurt. Come on down, the water's fine!

I'm coming to Cancun (1st time) next week, and would like to check out Puerto Morelos. Want to look for a villa in a quiet town that we can rent next time, with kitchen and all. This time it's just all-inclusive in Cancun, but it's not my preference. Heard that you can rent a small motored boat for cheap in Puerto Morelos, true? Also, do you know if I can catch some fish from shore, either in Cancun or Puerto Morelos? Catch and release of course. Don't have a kitchen this time :-) I want to know if it's worth it to bring along a fishing rod.

THANKS!

I absolutely love looking at your pictures of Mexico - always SOOOOOOOOOO blue! Blue skies, blue waters...white beaches, kids having fun - I gotta go sometime!
What's the best time of year (other than now - since no one is there!)

Hung Pham- I think it's a great idea to look for a place to rent in Puerto Morelos, there are more houses and condos than large hotels. The prices I've seen for the "lanchas" (small boats) are mostly for snorkel trips and they are around $25 USD for two stops. Fishing is more expensive. I often see people fishing off the dock in PM, not sure how good the fishing is, but they sure do it.

mare ad mare- My favourite time of year here is May, it's not overly hot yet, no spring breakers, no summer breakers, just lovely weather and minimal crowds. I don't think there is really a bad time to come, though Spring break in March is not ideal, too many crowds and it's expensive! Hope you can make it down sometime, the family would LOVE it!

We were in Cancun for the first time in May and can't wait to go back! Absolutely loved it. We're thinking of either November or maybe Jan/Feb. I understand the first of the year is a "dry" season. Do you agree?
Also, glad to see the hotel occupancy rate is moving back up!
Thanks!

Miss Kitty- Glad you ahd a fab trip! Technically the beginning of the year is "dry" season, but this year it was wet, wet, wet. I think it's really difficult to predict what is going to happen! Happy planning!

Thanks for the info. We prefer to travel in May but have a big anniversary in January and want to spend it in Cancun. Maybe we'll just have to visit more than once :)
Thanks again!
