Muy guacala, que feo! Pobrecitos...

(Very gross, how ugly! Poor babies...)
Ok, it's official, I now have a new Number One Most Disgusting Thing I Have Ever Done. Warning, this is GROSS and nasty and truly vile, do not read if you are eating, especially spaghetti. I'll give you some space if you need to leave.......

Ok, you stuck around, you wanna know. So, the kittens are so teeny tiny that their little bums don't really clear the litter in the box so I have to wipe tiny kitten asses after they go. Yesterday Buzz had a nice little dump and I saw he had some "klingons". I went after him with the toilet paper and for the first time he hissed at me and backed away. No worries, I am bigger, stronger, faster, I got a hold of him and started to give a little wipe. It wasn't coming off so I gave a little pull. And oh dear goddess so help me if I didn't pull out a SEVEN INCH WORM. Keep in mind, that Buzz is only about four inches long so a SEVEN INCH WORM covered in green poo was quite a shock to me. So shocking that I threw it and it landed with a splat. And I let it land and looked at it in amazement, looked at Buzz with sympathy and saw that he still had some poo on his butt. More toilet paper, another wipe and another SEVEN INCH WORM. Yep, two lovely roundworms came out of his cute little tushie. Now, I know what you are thinking, "Where are the pictures?" And that makes you disgusting. Or makes me disgusting because I was thinking it too. Sadly, I only thought about it after the fact and the flush was done so no pics, sorry sickos.

Now don't you worry, both kitties are finishing up their de-worming medicine and apparently this worm thing is quite normal. I obsessively read everything I could about worms and kittens last night and I am quite confident that they are going to be just fine. Apparently there are some theories that all kittens (and puppies) are born with worms and must go through this treatment. Now, you don't always see the worms or have the pleasure of pulling them out of your beloved pets' anuses, I guess I am just the lucky one. I do know that this can be dangerous if we eat their poo, I promise not to do that and Max is kept well away from any poo-related areas. We've got our own parasites to worry about, no need to share the kitten variety.

So now I just keep their litter and bums clean, wash my hands (and Max's) obsessively and continue to give them their medicine. They will be visiting the vet later in the week for another check up and hopefully he'll tell me that I will not have to pull any more worms out of any more bums. I know the first few months of their lives we will have to repeat the medicine every two to three weeks, but I solemnly swear to do that, no more worms for this mommy please!

There, did you survive? Was it disgusting? Should I take pictures next time?

OMG, I was eating lunch as I started to read this, and I disregarded your initial warning. But I had to stop when I got to the bit about wiping tiny kitten asses because I knew it would be something poo-related. I came back after I finished lunch. Disgusting story, but cute kitties! The things we do for our pets.

Kelly - I've been too busy to breathe for the past week and just got caught up with you. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Made me weep right in front of our assistant. Now he thinks I'm a nutter. Love the two new additions to your family. While you will never be able to relace Changa, this will help keep your mind busy and help Max move on as well. Take care chica!!

Not really hoping this happens again or anything but, if it does, um... yes to the pics.

Cuz I'm a nutjob too.

As absolutely horrified as I was reading this, sadly, it was not enough.

I third the nut-jobs.

I want pics!

Sould you maybe just stage a re-enactment like they do on cop shows??

Nut jobs UNTIE! I mean UNITE!

Say yes to pictures of disgusting worms slithering out of kitty butts!
Of course you should have taken pics! :)

Once, when I was around 10, I noticed a big pile of rubber bands in the middle of my clean floor. I was like, "WTF? Why are there rubber bands here?" and grabbed them.

Yup. Our puppy pooed a bunch of worms on my floor. Steaming, stinking worms! :(

I feel your pain! =D

kelly,

i didn't even think about pix until you mentioned them, but yes, like the rest of the nutjobs, i'd like to see them too. hopefully you won't have the opportunity again though.

please read about toxoplasmosis, especially if you plan any additions to the human family any time in the near future. my hubby got to clean the litter box during my 2 pregnancies, but alas, no more.

teresa

I personally love the fact that the worm was almost twice as long as the pussycat. I would have loved a picture.

You are all sick. And I love you.

Jen- Sorry about your lunch, lol, but you were warned (and you came back, teehee).

Michele- Thanks so much amiga, sorry to make you cry, I've been doing my fair share of that too. I think today is the first day that Max didn't ask about Changa, but he won't leave the babies alone!

Mexico Way- I knew you would want pics, but alas, I was in shock and awe at the sight in front of me and could only think of getting it out of my vision (and off my floor). I'll be prepared next time, I'm a good little girl scout.

3Ros- Oh yes the things we do for our pets, our kids and our husbands. Not sure which of those three take more care (or are more disgusting, haha).

Ale- Your comment cracked me up. Yes, we have some very lovely worm pets in a furry package, haha.

Mexpat- Oops, sorry, didn't mean to make anyone vomit, but sheesh, there was a warning. :)

Jonna- You are not alone on the pic front, I'll do what I can if it happens again! And you are exactly the kind of nut job I adore.

Lisa- You be cwazy too! Ummmm, not sure about a cops re-enactment, I guess I could boil some spaghetti and cover it in motor oil, might look about the same. Ewwww.

Mexico Way- You came back for more pics? ;-)

Janie- Hi **waves**! They are pretty cute, but the critters that came with them are not quite as cuddly.

Teresa- Hi there, welcome back. Yes, when I was pregnant with Max hubby did all the litter clean up. I actually got tested for toxoplasmosis right away and tested HIGH on the scale but the doc said it made me immune and was building Max's immunity too. Whether he was right or not, neither of us are sick so I guess he was OK.

Melissa- I wish you could have been here (but I often wish you were here so no big surprise). Totally yucky and cool.

Oops, Scott, we were commenting at the same time. Hope I didn't make you lose your dinner. :)

Just another thing we do for our pets. Funny how we can do the most disgusting things in order to keep them safe, healthy and happy. As for me, I've seen my fair share of dog, cat, horse and goat worms. Don't need the pix!

um, gros???

Girl you're brave! I get grossed out pretty easily, the slimy stuff from nopales makes me ill, so I'm pretty sure I would have fainted or puked or both in your case.... and I'm 100% sure I would have NEVER gone back to pull out the 2nd worm either!!!

It's precisely because I'm such a weirdo that we don't have any pets.... or kids (yet!) ;-)
